Trust God
Contributing Writer: Lisa Duscio, Team Inheritance of Hope Coordinator
Worry, doubt, reasoning, and regret all get in the way of simple trust in God.
We are living in “bondage†and torment when these are predominant in our lives. A person living in a state of worry is often trying to change situations they have no control over.
When we are faced with circumstances that are out of our control, let’s be reminded to turn to our loving, good God. He wants us to cry out “Abba, Fatherâ€. He has given us promises in His word for everything we might possibly face. His love for us is pure and holy and powerful!
He will always remain faithful, even when we are faithless, because He cannot deny Himself. Let us have hope in the FAITHFUL ONE.
In good times and in challenging times, trusting God is an integral part of self-care. There are needs in our lives that are designed by God to only be met by Him. We were created to have a relationship with our good Creator. Pouring out of that relationship will be strategies and answers that God will give us, and He expects us to do!
We have faith because He is Faithful.
ACTION ITEM
Read the following scripture:
Even the trials in our lives are designed to have good results! God doesn’t waste anything. We will be lacking in nothing.
Is there an area in your life that you need wisdom? Take it to the giving God. He gives liberally to everyone who asks, not because we deserve it, but because He is giving. Don’t wait until you feel you deserve His answer.

MY STORY
God showed me that the depression and worry I experienced was a result of me trying to do His job. I was trying to force action in areas He tells us in the Bible are His.
Although God had His part to do, there was plenty I could do too within my means to act upon. Those things I wasn’t doing, and I was actually procrastinating and fretting over. That deepened the depression and worry. I was actually getting in God’s way when He wanted to move on my behalf.
Some of the things I could do were speaking His word, praying, or accomplishing tasks around the house. I could do things as simple as getting my closet in order, prioritizing spending time with my daughter, answering some emails, and other simple tasks.
I confessed my doubt, received God’s forgiveness, and victory was mine. I accomplished completing the little tasks, and God unveiled His loving wisdom. He did His part, and I did my part. Depression and worry lifted, the atmosphere shifted out of despair, and joy came! And joy has stayed!
My trust was renewed in God.
Renewed strength: that's what God promises as we trust and wait on Him!

ACTION ITEM
Read the following scripture:
Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.
Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.
But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.
If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly , without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.
For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord.

Here’s an exercise:
- Think of an area in your life where you need wisdom and God’s intervention
- Tell God about that area
- Believe God is going to give you wisdom because His nature is to give
- Confess it to Him if you worry, doubt, fret, and run to others for your answers
- Receive His forgiveness
- Ask in faith (belief) for the wisdom and intervention with no wavering
- Thank God that He has answered you even if it’s not perfectly clear yet to your understanding
- Tell someone about what God has done for you
MY STORY
God showed me that the depression and worry I experienced was a result of me trying to do His job. I was trying to force action in areas He tells us in the Bible are His.
“The battle is mine, says the Lordâ€, “I am the Lord your Healerâ€, “I will never leave you or forsake youâ€, “the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghostâ€, “call to Me and I will answer youâ€.

And therefore the Lord will wait, so He can be gracious to you, and therefore He will be exalted, so He can have compassion on you, for the Lord is a God of judgment! Blessed are all those who wait for Him!
