Joy and Peace Through Suffering

Contributor: Kristen Milligan, Inheritance of Hope Co-Founder

Kristen Milligan, Co-Founder of Inheritance of Hope, was diagnosed with a rare terminal liver cancer in 2002. She persevered through 10 years of treatments, drugs, diets, surgeries, etc. In the spring of 2012, months before she died, she shared her personal testimony at Skyland United Methodist Church in North Carolina. We invite you to watch this 30-minute video of her sharing her message.

At the time this was filmed, Kristen already had been in hospice for a month. Her husband Deric was unsure if she would be able to even get out of bed on the morning she was scheduled to speak to the congregation. You will notice she is sitting as she delivers her testimony, but otherwise you wouldn’t have many other clues about her condition.

Kristen was an inspirational speaker who shared her testimony in numerous U.S. states and abroad. She was the author of three books, including two for children and one for adults. Kristen held degrees from Davidson College and Florida State University. She died on Friday, October 26, 2012, but her legacy continues through Inheritance of Hope.
